GUIDEBOOK Volume 6 – KINGS COUNTY
Volume 6 in this series travels through Kings County. With its 15 covered bridges, Kings County is considered the covered bridge capital of New Brunswick. For a leisurely pace, the guidebook is divided into four ‘Day Trips’. Should overnight stays be necessary the first three days depart from Sussex, the fourth starts in Hampton.
Day Trip 1 leaves Sussex for the Malone, Urney, Moores Mill and MacFarlane Covered Bridges.
Day Trip 2 also starts from Sussex and visits the Plumweseep, Salmon, Tranton and Oldsfield Covered Bridges.
Day Trip 3 travels south from Sussex on Highway Route 1 to the Bloomfield Covered Bridge then continues to the Moosehorn, Marven and Centerville Covered Bridges; a circuitous route bringing you back to Sussex.
Day Trip 4 – From whatever direction you arrive, the directions to the Smithtown and Darlings Island Covered Bridges start at Exit 158 on Route 1 at Hampton. There are three very distinct different ways to get to the Bayswater Covered Bridge each an adventure in itself. Two of the directions involve a ride on a ferry boat. All three directions are included in the guide.
As in all our guidebooks the Kings County guide includes some information on each bridge, full colour photos and maps as well as a list of interesting stops along the way.
