GUIDEBOOK Volume 5 – CHARLOTTE AND SAINT JOHN COUNTIES
This guidebook has directions to the covered bridges in both Charlotte and Saint John counties. Chapter 1 gives ‘Day Trip’ directions for the seven covered bridges in Charlotte County. Chapter 2 covers the three covered bridges in Saint John County.
Chapter 1 – Charlotte County. Directions to the bridges are given as two ‘Day Trips’ with St. Stephen as the point of departure.
Day Trip 1 – leaves St. Stephen on Route 3 and visits four bridges: the Flume Ridge, Dumbarton, McCann, and Maguire Covered Bridge.
Day Trip 2 – starts with the Maxwell Crossing Covered Bridge then heads toward Saint John with stops at the Mill Pond and Canal Covered Bridge.
Alternately, direct travel to a single covered bridge is given with St. Stephen as the starting point.
Chapter 2 – St. John County. The three covered bridges in this county are Tynemouth Creek Covered Bridge, and the twin covered bridges in St. Martins – the Vaughan Creek and Hardscrabble Covered Bridges. One set of directions to these covered bridges starts from Saint John. The second set of directions arrives from Sussex.
This guide includes some information on each bridge, full colour photos and maps as well as a list of interesting side-trips along the way.
